❤️ Forest Whitaker awarded the Palme d’honneur at the Cannes Film Festival 2022

Following in the footsteps of Jodie Foster last year, it is Forest Whitaker’s turn to receive the Palme d’or d’honneur at the Cannes Film Festival.Palme d’or d’honneur pour Mr Forest Whitaker
For me is the Best Actor award for his role in Clint Eastwood’s Bird. Since then, the opportunities followed and filmography has continued to grow. In particular, The Color of Money by Martin Scorsese in 1986, but also films that did not appear at Cannes: A rage in Harlem by Bill Duke (1991), Body Snatchers by Abel Ferrara (1993), Ghost Dog by Jim Jarmusch (1999), or Zulu by Jerome Salle (2013). What is certain is that Whitaker, the multitalented artist: actor, director (he directed four feature films) and producer, he has built a career as rich as it is eclectic. Recently, he has even produced films for Netflix with the fantasy comedy Sorry To Bother You by Boots Riley (2018) or the black and white drama Passing, Rebecca Hall (2021).
As he was the guest of honor of this new ceremony, the Cannes Film Festival 2022 has decided to screen In the Name of Peace, his latest production directed by Christophe Castagne and Thomas Sametin, this Wednesday, May 18 in a special screening. And there could not be a better tribute to the filmmaker, than by choosing this film and this cause (that of the fight for peace in southern Sudan) dear to Forest Whitaker, who founded the Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative in 2012 to help displaced people in the face of armed conflict in their country.
